Haven't climbed here yet, but I've hiked it plenty. Can be pretty intense for some people. Lengthy as well. The peak is supposed to be about 6 miles, but by GPS it's at least 7, and the cirque isn't too far off. I don't think I would ever attempt a single day hike-climb-hike down. It's absolutely exhausting on the way down, so I would plan to stay the night somewhere up there.

If you go early enough in the year you will find plenty of run off where you can filter some clean water. Also, apparently there is a spring up there, but I've never gone looking for it.

I've hike to Lone Peak, but only the base of the cliffs. Fantastic views from up there. It took me about 12 hours to hike up, lounge for a while and then hike down. In June of 2011, there was plenty of running water for refilling your supply. In June of 2013, water was less plentiful, but there were some places where you could get water, but they were just trickling.
I have only hiked this kind of mountain twice and it was to Lone Peak. I am 56, and found the hike pretty intense as Donovan mentioned, but very do-able. I would suggest this beautiful location.
