BETA PHOTO: South End and Its Relationship to Madigan Area

Description

The area left and a bit uphill of the Madigan Area. (I had also heard it referred to as the "Barker Buttress", but "South End" now seems to be the accepted name.)

Adam Beach in a comment below mentions that a 70m rope is usefull here.

Getting There

On the approach path from the car, look for pink survey tape on a white birch tree. Here, turn left and walk directly up hill following occasional tape and (currently, in 2016) a less-obvious path than the main path. (As the quality of these climbs becomes known this path is sure to become more obvious!) When you hit the rock turn left and uphill. The first climb you hit is "All Dogs Go to Heaven". "Subtle Like Bob Ross" is a-ways up the hill.

Alternately, from the base of "DLM-Memorial Route" walk down a bit and left, then along a faint path to the base of "All Dogs".

START- At the same flat ground as Whine & Lickher, 25 ft down and right of "Bob Ross"A great fun route not to be missed with great gear. It starts with featured rock but soon a crack shows up that you follow till the top. It's similar to Bombardment at Cathedral but a couple of grades easier. Shares the anchor with the other two routes in the area. 70m rope is needed for the rap....[more]   Browse More Classics in New Hampshire
