Description

Great variety of sport and trad climbing with lots of 2-pitch climbs. There is steep, exposed crack climbing, and stellar off-vertical to full out slab climbing.
Don't miss the classics like the exposed 2nd pitch arete of "L'arête des Urubus" (5.10b) and the equally exposed second pitch fist/hand crack of "L'hippocampe" (5.10b). There are many more lines on this sweet piece of rock ; most of which are 5.10 and up in difficulty. Without a doubt, one of the best crags at Montagne D'argent.

Getting There

Walk past L'Arche de Noway, M&M, Contreverse and then turn left at a sign marked "Hippocampe". Follow a trail that head up a steep hill until you reach an obvious clearing.

P1 : Execute a delicate entry move to gain a ramp/dihedral feature. Continue up the dihedral, which steepens. Jam, stem, and layback up to a wide finish, and an exciting topout onto a very, very fat 'party ledge'. Belay at two Glue-in bolts. A good pitch in it's own right. (~20m, 5.7)P2 : The money pitch. From the 'party ledge' step left into the void on small holds, and immediately feel the exposure. A hard move off the belay leads to an exciting clip.
