adrian korosec wrote:Can ya'll recommend some areas low on the mtn for an hour or two just before sunset during the hot summer months? I'm looking for 10s and under, sport or trad after work. Slim pickins this time of year I know. IT Crack area is a bit stout. I had Green Slabs in mind but it's sw facing and a little further up than I'd like. Thanks AKchimney rock is also pretty good as it gets shady in the PM hours but it may be a bit high (almost right across the road from green slabs). |

Picked up a copy at Summit Hut. This seems like an excellent book. |

Raycreation and Avalon at the summit crags. |

Just moved to the area and need a guidebook! Where can I get a copy? |

Thanks Kemper! |

Perfect conditions to hit the Weathertop, Chessmen or any of the cliffs at Windy Point! |
|
Our weather this year continues to be above average making Windy Point an Ideal destination. If you like warm and cozy pretty much anything that faces east will be perfect. From trad lines at Chimney Rock to a variety of trad and sport at either Windy Point east or west. Lots of shady options here too. The above mentioned are also still good choices. Wall of flying Scorpions, and Pinhead are great if you prefer shady and 70 degree temperatures. Have fun out there. |

Thanks Eric, the warm temps in Cochise had me thinking of Lemmon on the way back up. Sadly, the truck is without our super NPS pass... how much is a day pass up Lemmon these days? |

Greg..... yes we will be exiting at Speedway.... most likely take my two young travel companions to "Havens Gate" (I think thats the name) bouldering spot - west of town, so I can introduce them to Arizona Stone. Thank you for the info... Another question.... whats the camping scene for -"The Lemon" like? BLM? Pay (private) Sites?

So another question. Any beta on getting to Pinhead wall? Two years ago we tried a quick half day there, as the approach is supposed to be 20 min. However, after 1 hour of nasty boulder hopping/scrambling in the gully we got to a point where the dog refused to continue, and the wife was super grumpy. Did we miss something, or is it pretty much a death march over 10' boulders? |

Hardy-har-har Guy... we headed to Cochise for our annual trip but with some amazing weather, Lemmon is on my mind. We could always climb before the gate but that's likely too warm. We are currently with a single pass. It's not like Mussy goes into the Park much without me :/ and just so happens to be in our other rig. Ahh well. Cochise is dreamy this week, although visitorship increased near 100% as of today. #HappyNewYear |
