With all the rain this past week, any thoughts on if Index will be dry enough to climb on Thursday? Specifically the Rattatale area? We'd be making a trek to get there, hence want to make sure its dry before travelling. thanks!

I suspect Rattletale would take longer to get dry since it's generally on the shady side. The upper/lower town walls should be dry. Edit to add: I'm going to go check it out tomorrow evening so I'll report on the overall dryness.

Most of the LTW / Country was dry yesterday. With today's rain Rattletale might take a few days.

The wasp, amphibian, Jane Goodall and orangoutang will def be dry at rattletale. All are quick drying face climbs. The crack routes in the area will likely be slightly damp but manageable. Def worth the drive. The right side of the diamond will be dry. It’s a great time to do Hell Bent for Glory or Sabbra Cadabra. Upper wall routes will likely have damp first pitches but should be good after that. You can definitely find dry enough climbs pretty much wherever though. Id recommend staying a couple days as the weather is about to be as good as it gets!

Seems likely that the first pitch could have some seeps. If the classic second and third still have any, perhaps you can just consider it an added challenge and thus a plus? It's hard to beat the crisp energy of a nice fall day at Index. I'll be in the area, though not on Rattletale.

my guess is first pitch would be wet, but it is easy and secure. second pitch would probably be dry. third pitch would be wet, but it is mostly pretty secure. standard index conditions, in other words.

Hell Bents 3rd pitch is just as classic and splitter, but twice as long. Similar difficulty. It’s also worth taking to the top! 3rd pitch is likely wet for the season on rattle tale. 1st pitch wetness is a non issue.

I wouldn't drive from Bend to climb Rattletale in the best of conditions, but that's me. Davis Holland / Lovin Arms delivers a lot of quality granite splitter action, if that's what you're seeking.
