When I first read the title of this thread, I expected the gist of the post to be the same. But instead I understood it to say was macho thinking toxic to men, ie. did it get us into trouble. I know the thread title is troll bait, but the post said something different. I'm not going to go back and read it again, but honestly, I didn't percieve it as an attack on men in general.

The question it raises is more important though: Why has those poor Black Neighborhoods persisted for 20 years (and sometimes gotten worse) instead of better?

Is it because Black Americans have "cultural and behavioral issues" like Yury suggested that Italians and Irish Americans were able to overcome?

Or is it because of systemic racism that continues to oppress them (see Ferguson, MO)?

Methinks it was because Irish and Italians (that were brutally discriminated against around 1900) once they lose the accent pass as white.

I wanted to drop this here- I've been in and out of this thread but as gut wrenching as this is to listen to, I think we can all agree that this is a much larger problem than our petty cultural war in the US. Together we can fix this because it cannot continue- will we be the generation that sits back and let's real slavery continue?

No I majored in IT so we didn't really have many black folks around. There was 1 black chick who was one of the top in our graduating class but she wasn't much into outdoors activities.
