Camping around Saint George?
|
What are the best camping options in this area for sport climbing near by? BLM land? also is the limestone bible the go to guide book or is there a better one? Thanks for the help. |
|
You can camp at most of the crags. For sport climbing limestone bible is the boom for the area. If you want ALL of the st George crags look for Todd's book |

Cant camp out at Prophecy wall anymore which is a bummer, it was one of the best camping spots close to town. There is tons of BLM land around, also snow canyon state park has a nice campground and its walking distance to the crags. |

Moes is a good option. JUST next to boulders if u wanna a night session |

looking for camping recommendations in St George for the end of March. Snow Canyon is booked up solid. I saw an update that you can't camp at Moes anymore. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Martin Kaz wrote: That is correct that you can't camp at Moe's anymore. For now camping is still permitted around Green Valley Gap just to the north of Moe's. Hopefully people (not climbers from what I can tell) don't ruin that too! There is a dirt road connecting the Gap to Moe's but it's pretty steep/rough; the easiest access is driving around on Dixie Rd to W Canyon View Dr. |

u could sleep at "the gap".... you can even do TR laps all night from your bumper on short lil sandstone faces(30'-50') and if you mtn bike ....well you'd be a pig n sheet https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105787606/green-valley-gap |

Sounds good. Thanks for the info. |

Heads up that signs have now been put up saying no camping at the land in front of the Green Valley Gap where most people camp. I guess the owner of the land didn't like all the campers moving there from the Moe's parking area. |

Big B wrote: Looking at the "Land Management" layer on Cal Topo is looks like the private land is mostly down in the valley in front of the gap. Much of the gap is state land; looks like the same plot as Moe's valley, which also doesn't allow camping. Then the far opening of the gap looks to be BLM land, so maybe you could camp out there a ways on the BLM land, but I don't think there's a way to get a car out there. It appears this is a response to all of the people that were camping at Moe's moving to camp by the Gap. So while the sign says "No Trespassing" hopefully they just want to get rid of the campers and will be okay with day-users driving through there to climb at the Gap and to get to the mtb trails. |
