Yet another, critique my (insert topic here), thread.
The topic you have chosen is...Top Rope Solo Setup ! I know there are a probably a dozen threads on this (I've read them all) and I'm not really in need of a critique. But... I thought this was an innovative setup. On either side of the top Micro-trax is a thick rubber gasket/washer that is friction fitted. They hold the device in proper orientation so it doesn't slide down the biner. The bottom one is oriented by the dogbones. Note: the rendition is a quick "photo-shop" of the various components and is NOT TO SCALE. The 2 micro-trax are a bit further apart in reality because the chest harness rides high and the dogbones are longer than those depicted. |
1. Way overkill. 2. Bad gate side loading on the upper biner. 3. Releasing the rope from both microtraxes for rappel will be a major pain in the arse! |
The upper biner could be replaced with a D shaped maillon if side loading is an issue. |

BigNobody wrote: You leave the locking tab on your micro traxion? I know they don't jam open as easy as the mini traxion did, but I'm paranoid and still grind mine off. My backup device is a roll n lock, that takes so much rotation and a precise pull outwards to lock open that I left it alone. I leave that on for rappel. |
