Guys. Bullets don't whistle and jet fuel can't melt steel beams. You're all being lied to. |

It seems that what matters is that gunshots were fired hitting routes at Pentapitch and several people were climbing there when it happened -this was a criminal act and hopefully the perpetrators will be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law |

heard pentapitch goes at 5.7 now...due to some chipped mono pockets |

For reference purposes, here's a site I found that catalogs the various words used to describe bullet sounds in comics: http://www.comicbookfx.com/result.php?tags=bullet&x=0&y=0 Of note: CLANG, CRACK, FSST, PHFFT, PING, PWING, POF, POW, PUWANG, SFAT, SPAANG, THWACK, THWOP, VIP, and WHANG! If the bullet is still supersonic, I'd assume "CRACK" would apply. Later in its trajectory, likely more of a "FSST", and if it's tumbling, "VIP" may be most applicable. (Perhaps we can determine the exact distances by correlating the caliber of the round and the closest onomatopoeia?) BTW, that site above is searchable for other sound effects. This link is for "bullet" sound effects, but you could also search for "gun" (BAROOM!) or "ricochet" (TWANNNG TNNNG!) to find other onomatopoetic references to help you better describe the experience. |

Samuel - I am going to climb PentaPitch this week. I want to see the bullet holes, where should I look f? No troll, I am being serious. |

This whole sound of a bullet should be easy to test. Who wants to go climb Sasquatch? What caliber would you like fired in your general direction? I'm free all week! |

Jake Jones wrote: Jake, and everyone - I sincerely apologize for questioning OP's recollection of the sounds of bullets wizzing past his head. I have no idea why everyone in this thread decided to gang up on me when all I was doing was looking for information. If it came across as me calling OP a liar - I have already apologized for that too. That being said, this forum is a giant cesspool of (very shitty) internet trolls. Seems they'be elected boissal as their captain. I remember now why I've stayed away for so long. |

Price wrote: Dude. You were being dickish, you got called out, you doubled down, more people pointed out you were being a dong, you back pedaled, and now you're apologizing while maintaining that you were misunderstood from the start? It's all the mean trolls' fault right? Poor. Fucking. Snowflake. Fellow climbers got shot at. In LCC. From the road. I'm not sure expressing anything other than concern is appropriate... |

Iwanted the answers to your questions as well Price. I didn't think you werebeing an ass, just questioning things. |

Price wrote: Yes, because all know Hollywood is the ultimate source of accuracy, I mean just look at Vertical Limit and Cliffhanger... Everybody knows real climbers don't drill holes, they just use a bolt-gun... |
