Filled out return/shipping form on Trango website, sent my Vergo in, it got confirmation of delivery from UPS. Nothing from Trango.

Did anyone have a different experience?

No. I got confirmation of delivery and no updates from Trango.

I just received an email from Trango confirming they have my Vergo and are working in getting a replacement out. No hard dates or promises.

Dang. What a disastrous way to launch a product after a year of hype.

Maybe "disastrous"...it's too bad that it happened, but I think Trango did what was necessary to get ahead of the bad publicity and/or lawsuits if the device failed in use. Being proactive on safety issues is never a bad thing. From a marketing perspective, the majority of potential buyers will only see a delayed launch. It's unlikely that any retailers will not continue to sell the product as soon as it's available. I'm not sure how many initial buyers will seek a refund and not use the device in the future...I for one will be happy to use mine as soon as I receive it...in fact I'm happier now since I'm getting a "second generation" device with the wonky handle beefed up.

The costs of paying shipping both ways, as well as the remanufacturing costs, will probably be "disastrous" to the company's bottom line in the short-term, but will be recovered once this initial run of devices is sold.

In my opinion-that-does-not-matter - Trango got into this bind because of attempt to shave off all the extra weight.
After a bit of fiddling I was able to replicate the illustrated failure mode, but that particular failure mode would be impossible if the handle were just a few millimeters wider.  Actually, I almost didn't send Vergo in - I have access to a mill, wanted to make wider and sturdier handle from aluminum. For climbing that I do, a few more grams are not an issue.
Instead of chasing grams they should've spent a few more design hours to make the device more ambidextrous, that would've given them a leg up on GriGris.

Well you're a little more optimistic than me about it.  I do agree that the recall was the correct thing to do, but its still trying to enter a tough market with established competition. A number of climbers would be wary of a rebranded Cinch (although that might be a selling point for some) to begin with.

But pulling back 100% of your initial product with no date for replacement? That says this was not a bad batch or two, they've got a real manufacturing issue.

Perhaps there is more demand for this new mousetrap than I think though?

They pulled back 100% of the run because of the design of the handle, not a manufacturing defect or QA issue per se. If you're a "pessimist" you won't see a distinction here. Many products are sold with poor designs that never get recalled, but this design was clearly inadequate, and they had no choice but to recall the entire run. I had two Vergos in hand, and neither of them exhibited the problem the recall is supposed to address, but they might have developed that problem with use...I'll never know.

Other people in this thread have mentioned that this was a design issue involving millimeters of material. I'm not defending Trango for poor design, just for them taking the right steps to correct a design issue.

I sent mine in last month and it was UPS informed me that it had been received by Trango on April 27th. I got an email TODAY (May 10th, almost two weeks after they received my device) stating,

Our team is actively working to get replacement units into your hands as soon as possible. We will keep you updated as we learn when replacement units will become available.

 So yeah. There's that.

Look on the bright side, you still got everything on your wish list. I asked for a Revo and received nothing.
