I am an American student studying for a semester in Freiburg, Germany (SW corner) and want to make the most out of my short time in Europe. I have classes until the end of July, but I have Thursdays and Fridays off, so I can do long weekend trips in June and July. I have the entire month of August open and would be interested in doing some extended trips then. I am open to any type of climbing or adventure (multipitch, sport, bouldering, backpacking, etc.), but I would really like to get on some moderate multipitch routes, so I'm leaning towards the Alps (Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France).
Experience: Climbing for ~3 years. I am comfortable leading multipitch up to 5.8/9 YDS on gear and 5.10 on bolts. Sport climbing, I'd likely project 5.11s. I have not done any technical alpine climbing, but I have experience with multipitch routes up to 8 pitches in the States.
Gear: I have a singles rack (cams up to BD #3 C4; nuts; tricams; apline draws; anchor stuff) with me. I did not bring a rope, but I could potentially buy one here (or buy beer for a partner willing to share).
Transportation: I'm currently at the mercy of public transport and the European rail and bus systems, but a generous partner with a car would be compensated with beer and/or gas money. I am also open to the possibility of renting a car for an extended trip in August.
Let me know if you want to crush some European rock (or trail) together!
