Why would one need to "log in"?

Glenn Wiedenhoeft · · ames, IA · Joined Apr 2012 · Points: 0

Something is inconvenient, with the MN data package – the "areas" are divided by "indoor", "rock", and "ice". All the climbs are there... somewhere, I read some of the forum entries about packaging data for download, So, I understand that it's not too much data to download climbs for the whole state.
My first-time experience with the interface: When I go to the "rock" category/location, I see the introductory comments about Minnesota climbing, and cannot go any deeper – no areas, no climbs, no links, no navigation from that page. Okay, now I see I should click the "areas" button at the bottom of the screen.
It seems like it would be more intuitive to default to the "areas" page rather than "details", which in the case of MN, s NOT "details", rather "general comments".

Using iOS 8.2 and MP 3.12 (Build 76)

We rearranged MN today. It will take a week for the mobile app data packs to update, but then you will download sub-areas of MN instead of the whole state.

Regarding "tick" list.
First off, love the app and page. Been using mtnproj for a decade and it just keeps getting better...Thank you.
On to business, I would like to recommend the addition of checkboxes in the tick list such that climbs can be qualified, e.g. os, rp, flash, osa, rp attempt (could alsobe as simple as attempt vs send).
This would allow for the tick list to be sorted by whether or not the climb was completed successfully and would allow for users to assess how many attempts it took to red point a climb.
It would provide for some very interesting statistics on climbs and could facilitate a more rigorous and less biased climb rating.

Sincerely,
Nick Tarasenko

Love the app! I would be nice to have the ability to see the route types for the different areas the way you can on the website. This is especially helpful when your traveling and trying to decide where to go based on the gear you have/desires.

I've been having problems with the app crashing regularly. I'm on a Samsung galaxy s4 active with Android 5.0.1.

Also, a few problems/suggestions:
Sometimes the top or bottom of comments are cut off and there is no option to expand the text.

When I lock my phone or go back to my home screen and come back to MP, the app remembers my spot on the page, but only for a second. It quickly returns to the top, leaving me to look for the pitch or comment I was looking at.

The app seems to work best with either great data reception or in airplane mode, but with spotty reception, pages don't load or the app crashes. I think the old app was always in offline mode unless you downloaded something (areas or photos). It seems that loading ads crashes the app (I paid the 8 dollars when the app came out, and still feel that there should be an ad-free option for those who paid, especially if the ads affect functionality /beatingadeadhorse).

Anyway, thanks for the great site and community, keep up the good work.

the app needs an option to only show Boulder problems in areas

THIS. I can't express the number of times that I've moved from the app to cross reference a guidebook picture on my phone, came back to the app (without actually closing it out), and had to go through 8 area menus again to get back the route description I was looking at. I'd love to see it remember this, or even have a "recently viewed routes/areas" list on the app's homepage to circumvent the problem.

That said, almost all frustrations I've had using the app come back to the actual MP content or lack thereof on occasion. Otherwise the app has been an excellent resource for both sport and alpine/trad climbing beta.

Same here. This is really my only complaint with the app.

The ability to comment on routes or crags from the app would be nice. Also, the ability to mark a tick as TR, Lead, onsight, flash, and give a suggested rating would also be nice. I also second what Monty said about being able to filter climb types (trad, sport, boulder) in the app.

I'm unable to sync my todo's/ticks/ratings from my iPhone6. Most recent iOS is installed and I'm on build 87.

I get an error saying: "An error occurred while syncing. Check your connection and try again."

I'm on WiFi and have cell service :/

Ditto Plus some additional:

Most important improvements for me would be:
. Be able to download only beta photos, not the random photos people post that don't show the route
. Be able to suggest difficulty ratings (BTW, this feature doesn't work on iPhone safari MP version either)

Using iPhone, iOS 10, build 87.

Thanks!

I have a similar issue with sync'ing on iPhone 6, iOS 10, build 87. A little different than the above posts, but perhaps they're all related to the iOS 10 update?

Specific issue for me: when I try to open the photo's for the route Craven Image at Lovers Leap the app gives an error "An error occured while fetching preview images. Check your connectivity and try again later."

I'm fully connected. Tried with both wifi and LTE.

I would love to see the route search capability in the phone app, similar to the advanced search in the web site.

When trying to download images for a new place i get an error saying something like "an error occurred while fetching preview images, please check your connection and try again" im currently have great wifi, connectivity isn't the problem

Suddenly I can't download all images for areas in the app. Half the images are just spinning icons and when I try to download all the app just shuts down. The app went from somewhat helpful to largely useless now.

James, if you have iOS, please update to the app version we released today.  If you have Android, you might have to delete your data packs and reinstall them (or delete/reinstall the whole app).  We changed the location for some images and I think you have outdated data.

I'm using Android. The screenshot was from after I deleted the entire app and reinstalled. Even areas that used to work done won't download fully after I deleted and reinstalled. I deleted app again this morning and still the same thing.

I just tried a phone with iOS and it was unable to download the same photos and received an error that said it was unable to download the photos.

  • New app makes navigation so much more difficult. Come on guys. My phone's IOS is updated and none of the photos load. You guys should make the app more simple. Not more complicated.
