LOL...I just got mine a couple weeks ago and haven't even used it yet!

Yep, just sent mine back. Free shipping!

This would explain why the supply suddenly dried up when I was trying to get one last week.

Bumping this, mine was recalled too!

Mine was also recalled. I think they all were. My guess is that they gave the specific model numbers simply for posterity's sake.

I think they all were. Just 'tested' mine and the lever does indeed pop over the plate with ease, and it didn't lock on a fattie 10.5 we were playing with. This recall is real deal. :(

When I first got mine I felt like I was going to break the handle off just using it. But I got used to them and now it feels solid to me. It's possible that it's just thinner than the handle on the GriGri or the resistance offered by the different mechanisms just feels different. Either way, it feels sturdy enough to me now.

I could not get mine to do what they described in the recall even though it is within the batch numbers. I even tried to force it a bit too.I could see how it could happen, but mine wouldn't do it. It isn't that old though.

Yeah, I got mine a few weeks ago and have really liked it. I also can't get mine to have the fault described even though it's in one of the recalled batches. I'll be happy to go back to using it when I get the new one back.

I love how the device functions and handles.  Smooth as silk.  Sad to see it recalled.  However...  Despite not being able to reproduce the issue even with strong-arming the handle, I had another issue with the device:  The cap that sits over the pivot point on the handle popped off, exposing the tensioning spring inside.  The spring has now worked its way out and the handle has no tension - it just flops about.

I have it directly from Trango that they've fixed that issue as well in the newly engineered update.  But they also say that it will be at least June until they can have the recalled devices remanufactured with the fixes.

Back to the trusty ATC for a while.

I was able to reproduce failure mode, but it does take a bit of fiddly effort. Design modification should be fairly simple - the handle needs to be thicker, that would prevent it from sliding above the plate creating stop for the cam.

Interesting you mention that - as we were playing with mine, I was thinking my cap looked a bit lifted.

I was thinking my cap looked a bit lifted.

As  I mentioned several posts above, mine arrived new with this same cap half broken - I actually think it cracked during shipping because I found the broken half in the bottom of the box. A piece that breaks before even using it once definitely needs a major update.

Any word on the expected lag time in replacing recalled Vergos? With the recall I am now out one of my TR solo devices. If it is just going to be a few weeks, I can make due with other devices I have. But if it is going to take them till July to replace the recalled units I will go ahead and get a different device to fill the gap.

I was told they're shooting for June, but no promises.

Filled out return/shipping form on Trango website, sent my Vergo in, it got confirmation of delivery from UPS. Nothing from Trango.

Did anyone have a different experience?

My guess is that it will take a couple of months before they start shipping replacements.

Same experience for me, but I'm not concerned. It would be nice if they sent out an email with an estimated time for replacement, but I'll contact Trango directly in a couple of weeks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
