Just wondering if anyone's been up and skied Dragon's Tail lately, and if so, what the conditions are like. Debating going this weekend, and trying to decide between hiking up Flattop and downclimbing into the couloir to ride it, or climbing up it and then stopping to ride wherever.
Dragon's Tail was super firm, mostly front-pointing. Topped out at 5:30. Corral looks like it slid some only a couple days ago. Probably not fun for skiers right now, unless alpine moguls are a thing. Dragon's Tooth/Dead Elk was also super firm, mostly front-pointing. Topped out at 8:15. The crux on Tooth isn't too bad right now as there's still quite a bit of snow. Snow on the apron above Emerald seemed to finally be softening up a bit at 10.
Thanks for the input all! My partner bailed so I took a quick solo up Atlantic today instead. Mayflower gulch is super soft right now after 10am, so skiers delight and climbers post-hole hell. I didn't bring my snowboard but it was still fun.
Maybe Dragon's Tail next weekend or the week after.
