Climbing on outhouse disrespectful?
|
There is a jokester route on MP of a "bouldering" problem that climbs a concrete bathroom. The kind of bathroom that are in outdoor areas everywhere - a structure entirely made of concrete. The poster has rated the climb V2 to surmount the roof of the outhouse. |

Shit like that is why we have Trump for a president. |

Please post a link to the page. Help some fellow climbers get a few laughs. |

I think it's disrespectful and not a good idea, your in the great outdoors annnnnd your going to pick the only building around to climb on??? A lot of peeps are petty and I could def. see another user group looking down on this, and bringing it up at inopportune times(Blm meetings) I've watched similar things happen in the mtb community.... stuff that just makes you slap your forehead in disbelief |

Buildering an outhouse is maybe a fun innocent prank. |
|
I will just say that it may draw unnecessary attention. I live in the Twin Cities area and have been scoping and recording quite a few places to do urban bouldering (which I don't think the outhouse falls into the category since it is an amenity for a park, which is also where the disrespect part could come into play). Anyhow, I've kept all of them secret and have decided against posting anything public for various reasons. |

If you climb a crapper you are disrespecting yourself! |

The only time people ever get in trouble is when someone gets hurt. |

This concern certainly has merit. The concept that any user group should be grateful to gracious mother government for allowing us to voice our opinion about how our public lands should be managed is deeply flawed. Their job is to listen to all user groups and effectively manage a shared resource. I'm not a fan of the proposed solution that we censor our fellow climbers humor lest we provoke a vindictive government who will communally punish us like a child by taking away our climbing areas. |

It's only disrespectful if someone is using said outhouse at the time of the climb. |
|
It's V3 with a shit start. |

How would a climber feel if there were a group of horse people camped in the site next to you and they were galloping their horses around and jumping over the picnic table in the campsite? Similarly boorish behavior IMO. |

Here is another one |

My opinion on the subject has already been expressed, but it's important for me to point out that Matt's comment is ill-informed. I wasn't referring to the government or its officials. I was referring to the Inter-Tribal Coalition folks and their lawyers who were involved in drafting regulations that will apply to Bears Ears. I think that's an important clarification to make. |

Is discussing this on MP really a thing? For fuck sake, who gives a shit. |
|
Climbers have a long history of building. To whit something currently on the front page of MP: climbing.com/videos/hard-co… |
|
If the building is concrete who cares you aren't even likely to make enough sound for people inside aware of your climbing. |

I work night shift for now so I was bored at 4 am and have long periods of time to myself. I don't always have a clear mind at 4 am. Upon reflection, yes this is a pretty trivial discussion, and if I saw it I may have posted a "who cares??" comment as well. I will do better about making clearer posts. |
