Hey! Taking a victory trip across the country before medical school starts. Will have harness + single rack and possibly my aid gear.
Want ideas on places to hit that it's easy to find partners for a few days! Will be traveling from May 28 - July 18ish! What climbing areas, famous or hidden, should I hit up? Will be starting at Katadin in Maine, riding south to the RRG and then west!
So - recommendations? Couches to crash on? Beta? Anything is good!
If I could get a partner to do some routes in the Winds... that would be spectacular
Can't believe I happened to see this. You know you're welcome around here (southern Wisconsin). Devils lake state park has a fair amount of trad I believe. I'm mainly bouldering around governor dodge state park... been looking at nova scotia for bouldering this summer, so I might come that way
I did this for a large part of last summer. I only had a harness, shoes, chalkbag, helmet and a enough gear to tether, belay and a nut tool. Using MP it is easy to find partners. Though I will say that you can also meet people in a lot of areas. RRG at Miguels no problem finding a partner Wrinkled Rock Climbers Campground near Mount Rushmore was easy to find partners for that area and the Needles in Custer State Park Smith Rock in Oregon, easy to find partners at the campground Tuolumne in Yosemite easy with the bulletin board I was in the dead of summer, otherwise Indian Creek would have been easy. Basically anywhere there is a climber campground, you will find people needing partners. These were my experiences
The Lander Climbing Festival is going on July 12th-16th. It is a bit nuts in town during that time, but really easy to find climbing partners and with a bit of work you'd be able to find a climbing partner for the Winds. I'd actually suggest showing up a week in advance and trying to head into the Cirque (or where ever you wanted to climb) on a week day to avoid crowds. I've never had a tough time finding partners in Lander and you'll usually run into someone interested in getting further out than Sinks/Wild Iris.

Seneca rocks, New river gorge, Horse pens 40 (bouldering but fucking amazing). Since you are from NY I don't need to mention the gunks or the dacks. I would hit acadia (maybe not that easy for partners) if you are going to go to Katahdin. You can also stop by the shagg crag in maine. I would hit Rumney if you havent been before...ermmm I would hit Rumney regardless.
If you are going to goto the RRG you mind as well hit seneca then NRG then RRG.

Ethan Clark... that is bizarre. Climbed with this kid in Patagonia around 6 years ago. Thank you Mproj!
