New header on MP?

For what its worth I like this change, I'm sure we will have many varied and well through out opinions and a civil discussion about the new look....

I'm loving it!

At first glace I don't see any new functionality (which is fine) is it just a color and format change?

I anxiously await the flaming torches.

This is one of the beginning steps on the long road to rebuilding MP from scratch. The new header you're seeing is actually old code but matches what we've build in the new code (which you can't see yet, but pages will be converting one at a time over the next year).

No changes yet, but many are coming.

From a graphic design perspective it was over-due

It looks great

Dark less inviting in some way - but it sure stands out.

Edit to add: Nick, the REI parks thing could be shrunk just a bit so it reads the same size. Looks too big on the black, and I'm a guessin' they aren't interested in a redesign.

It currently isn't possible to open my personal page on mobile in portrait position, at least on my android. Can that be fixed? Works in landscape.

The existing site isn't phone friendly at all. Every new page we build will be properly mobile responsive, but it will take time to get them all.

And having it in black makes the 3 upper right icons *visible* for the first time in a while.

Not a problem on my particular flavor of chrome on Android.

So blue to black i'll complain about sure.

But can we please not make mountainproject a social media...? I'm instantly getting creeped out that that's down the pipeline when I saw my prof icon top right....

Also, in my laziness to make another post, thinking that Nick will scrutinize these.

Can you fix the search function, a bug I'm having is that you cannot search for small words, i.e. "c3". It is absolutely impossible to utilize mp to search for such. You type "c3" and get nothing, you type "black diamond c3" and get shite from every bd product ever made.

This bug will have to wait until we have a new search engine (later this year) since the technology behind our current search can't fix this.

In general, feel free to submit bugs via the forum. At this point in the code's lifecycle, I'll be fixing things simple things that are broken in the original code, but new features and improvements that push the old code too far will have to wait for the new codebase.

That would be great, I figured I couldn't be the only one that noticed, but as it seems the search function is being highlighted in this redesign I thought I should offer up!
