Any medical assistants out there?

For the past several years I've been working seasonal guiding jobs and then anything to get by during the winter and recently have been thinking about going back to school. This might be more of a life choice opinion but the constant traveling, somewhat difficult to maintain hours during the slower season and overall huge responsibility you undertake while guiding has made me rethink a more sustainable career. The tittle says it all. Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight on this field from their personal experience likes dislikes type of deal. From years working outside, will I go crazy working in an office?

I lived a lot like you for a long time. I too got to a point where I had to do something serious to change or I never would. My first thoughts were along the lines of something quick. I ended up going the RN route based on return of investment.

The RN required me to take 4 semesters of pre-reqs and another 4 of school. Factor summers in, and that's like 3 years. It's about 35k in loans total.

I looked at several tech jobs, x ray, ma, etc. They all still had 1-2 semesters of pre reqs and were 2 to 3 semesters depending on which program. They usually didn't run through the summer either. In terms of time from start to finish, RN was about the same. The cost isn't that much less (but you can work more) Sure it's a lot more work but it was never unrealistic.

RN pay starts at almost double those other medical professions and goes up.
