Summer bouldering (early June) in Fontainbleau
|
Hello I was hoping to go to Fountainbleau over the summer(im a teacher so this is my best opportunity). My plan as of now is to fly into Paris climb in Font for a few weeks and then drive to magic wood for a few weeks. Ill be solo so im a bit concerned about notoriously poor landings in magic wood. My question is how plausible is climbing in June in font? Planning to do night/ early morning sessions if the weather is hot. will this be reasonable? Or should I just focus on Magic Wood for the whole summer? |

Is going to be hot but climbable.... Early morning better,,,,evening end night mosquito will feast on you... But amazing boulders.... |

Thanks for the response, are night sessions possible or mosquitoes crazy bad? |

haven't booked accommodations, but hoping to find a cheapish hostel, open to any recommendations |

Not sure what your budget is, but I stayed at a "Gite" when I was there that I found through this website: en.gites-de-france.com/. |

Thanks Nivel1 I'll try to find that place, pads included would be a great benefit. Planning to spend about a month (between font and magic wood most likely) so anything to trim down expenditures would be awesome |

Usually June July August are the months of mosquitos in France especially in the forest of fountainbleau, but if you get a good repellent spray you are going to be fine, get a good map of the place with all the boulders and the pat, it is easy to get lost in the dark over there, but is a super fun place I envy you a lot,,, |

June is a good month if you're not looking to break into a new grade. Like Walter said, mosquitoes can be a hassle but that depends on spring rains. 2016 was awful in that regard as we had massive floods. So far winter has been the driest in several decades (heck, there were even some fires in the Alps and Pyrenees) but who knows how spring will turn out? |
