Devils lake snow report

This Saturday looks to have some pretty nice temperatures, but foggy. Does anyone have a second opinion on if the rock might be dry enough to climb or will the fog keep everything wet?

just go, it will be good training.

I am sure the south facing faces will be dry and the cracks will be wet as well as anything tucked away as well.

Hey Alex, I second Jon's opinion.

I plan to climb at the lake on Saturday. I'll be in Milwaukee until about noon, and then I'm going to the lake to get on whatever's dry before returning to Madison in the evening.

Yeah, conditions aren't great and a lot of rock will have some drainage and seepage. Just hit the East Rampart and you'll find something that's dry or dry-enough. It gets plenty of sun throughout the day and has consistent winds helping to dry it.

I just got back from the lake today. Checked out the East Rampart and everything West of the Quarry. The only cliff that was decently dry enough was White Wall. Everything else was soaked, needed some sun to dry it out.

I was wondering if that was you in the CCC lot.

I did Balanced Rock Ridge at lunch today. The route itself was prime, but I was wishing I had microspikes on the trail. Most of Balanced Rock Wall was dry, but the usual seeping suspects like Watermarks, et al, were in various stages of dampness. The forecast is calling for four inches of heavy, wet snow overnight tonight, so who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Anyone actually out there today? THinking of coming up really quick for a run up turks head tomorrow.

Winter wonderland indeed! Hoofing heavy packs wasn't easy, but the weekend was still amazing.

Did you end up doing Turks head.. I think me n a buddy or two are heading up there Saturday for a day trip to multipitch Turks head ridge either that or I was thinking about devils doorway minor or major mass and multipitching
