Hey just looking for some honest information on utah. My girlfriend and I have no reason to stay in boulder trying to move to park city or SLC.

How is the job market in park city? Sales/start up/ tech industry?

Cost of living?

What is weekend ski traffic like from SLC?

Do people live in park city and commute to work in Salt Lake?

I am up for living somewhere other than park city. What would be the best spot for someone with a full time climbing addiction that is slightly adjusted for ski season?

How is the job market in park city? I don't think there is much of a job market in Park City as far as sales/start up/tech industry is concerned. Most of those type of Jobs are found in the Draper/Lehi area (known by locals as the point of the mountain).

What is weekend ski traffic like from SLC? Nothing like the traffic from Denver. You're looking at about 45 minutes from SLC to any of the 7 closest resorts, bump that up to 1 hour and 15 minutes and you can add 2 more, and the nice thing about it is that it's no more than two resorts in any one direction, so the traffic is very spread out.

Do people live in park city and commute to work in Salt Lake? Yes

Park City doesn't have a lot of the jobs you are looking for, but it does have some. Backcountry.com is the biggest, and there are a handful of others. I also wouldn't say that most of the sales/start up/tech industry is in Draper/Lehi. A bunch certainly is, but there are also big clusters in downtown SLC, by the university, the office parks near big cottonwood, and even west valley city. I'm a software developer, I would never work in Lehi/Draper because of the commute and the culture, and I have no trouble finding good work in SLC proper.

Commuting from Park City proper wouldn't be much fun, more because of the distance than the traffic. Most of the commuters live in Summit Park, Jeremy Ranch, or Kimball Junction, which are in between the two. Keep in mind that the skiing is much better in the Cottonwood canyons, which are accessed from SLC. Park City is more of a tourist magnet. There is also no worthwhile climbing in Park City, so you'll be coming down to SLC anyway for that.

FWIW I lived in Summit Park for about 2 years and commuted from there both to SLC and even to points north in Davis County. I never once encountered the type of frustration doing that as I did commuting shorter distances in the Denver metro area. I quite enjoyed living at the top of Parley's as it was just about equidistant from all of the best parts of SLC and Park City. You're out of the inversion in the winter and the valley heat in the summer.
