5 tips for the becoming of social media star!!!

This is all lame. Sasha climbs hard, studied at a great school, and seems like a nice person. The one thing she isn't doing is posting on a climbing website at 5PM. If you think social media is what is dismantling the monumental edifice of climbing, wtf are you doing here?

I hate to break it to the Kournikova fans, but it is no secret in the tennis world that the only reason she has so much notoriety is because of her sex appeal. I mean, how many 8's in the world can you name? Sure, in the tennis club world she would clean up, but she's not much relative to the other pros she plays against.
Sasha, on the other hand, climbs fucking hard. Of course part of the reason she has such a following is because of her looks, but let's stop pretending that she's the first climber who wanted to make a living climbing and NOT have to live in the back of a pick up truck. If you don't like social media then #dontlogon

So I actually think Sasha's done more for climbing than just about any other personality, aside from perhaps Honnold (though I would argue he's had more of a negative effect, as much as I love the guy). She's brought climbing to the world, and gotten a lot of people to take notice. While this might result in more kids on your proverbial lawn, it IS a good thing. Do you think Bears Ears would have happened if people like DiGiulian hadn't increased the exposure of climbing? I don't.

It's true that she hasn't been pushing her grades lately, but she's been branching out and trying new things, which isn't a bad thing. The greater public could give two shits if she sends 5.15, but when she tries different disciplines (trad, big wall, cracks, ice, etc), she exposes a whole new crowd to them.

As far as dressing scantily clad...Sasha posted one picture of her and a friend messing around in bikinis, and the internet freaked out. She got shit for climbing without a helmet (mostly because she's a woman). If anything, she (and her audience) are hyper-vigilant about her image as a female role model. While she is undoubtedly gorgeous, her success as a "social media star" has a lot more to do with her ability to tell a good story and be relatable.

Erryone needs to STFU. Don't act like ya'll haven't gawked at the hot chick who climbs 5.8 at the gym. Sasha is no different except for the fact that she is not only beautiful but also stronger than most of us. Nearly all climbers appreciate a cute climbing chick whether its on instagram or not so stfu and just admire all the climbers taking better photos than you....one of the purposes of instagram is to view pretty photos after all.......
