Will be there next week for a ski trip but may not be able to ski due to recent shoulder surgery. I am bringing snow shoes and would appreciate ideas on where to go.

For something close check out round valley - probably will not need snow shoes.

Otherwise Big and Little Cottonwood are good choices if you have avy gear and knowledge.

Kamas is 15 min from Park City the mirror lake highway going out of Kamas has several trails that take off from it. I love going down along the Provo River in that area. There is great wildlife viewing along the river.

Could you elaborate on "gear"? I can manage snowshoes, poles, and backpack with water but not avalanche safety or ice tools gear.

One should have avy gear (and know how to use it) as well route finding skills for the trails in the Cottonwood Canyons as most have avalanche danger. There are some safe areas but even places like Mill D can be hazardous to the unknowledgable.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
