snow in the Gunks?

Got a report of 8 inches in the western Catskills.

Seeing some yet-unmelted snow on lawns and roofs in eastern Pennsylvania.

Wondering how much is on the ground on our favorite ridge in between those.

Local reports suggest about 4 inches on the Ridge.

Thanks --
so sounds like just enough to mess up much climbing,
but not enough to much enjoy skiing.

Currently 5" in New Paltz. For future reference:

Dang I was hoping to go climb today. DO you think it will be clear by Friday? I have never been up to the Gunks before and it's about a 3 hour drive.

Some snow on the ground doesn't mean every climb will be spoiled/seeping/wet. It just means you'll need to assess each climb from the bottom to determine if you can go up it.

Bring a rope bag or tarp, in case the base is snowy or wet.

People are climbing today, and were yesterday. It's sunny today, perfect for climbing unless(like me) you don't touch metal when the temps go below 50).

Today was gorgeous. No snow, no seeping, no problem!

Going to head up there tomorrow for some bouldering. Can someone give me an update of conditions please. Thanks!

should be perfect bouldering weather tomorrow. A few flurries today, not accumulating. We have about 5" of old snow on the ground, but, the rocks are mostly snow free.

Limited skiing at the moment (it rained a bit yesterday).

EDIT - apparently the area didn't get as much rain as I initially thought

Does anyone have an update on conditions? Has the rock dried yet? I'm hoping to get out Sunday.

Climbed rock 3 days ago. Cold, but mostly dry, with some wet streaks here and there. Carriage road was a bumpy ice sheet, so wear some micro spikes for the approach.

We heard lots of people were getting out for skiing over Xmas + New Years, but now Mohonk Mountain House reports
Trails Closed due to icy and bare spots.

I note that the access trail / carriage road that climbers see for the Trapps is not one of the skiing trails of the Mohonk Preserve or Mountain House. Many of the skiing trails hold snow much better than the Undercliff carriage road.

Anyone have an update on the conditions? I'm not super familiar with the Gunks, but I'll be in the area this Sunday and would love to get on something easy (preferably without snow on every hold).

55 degrees here yesterday. No snow left.

Anyone have any opinion on if it'll be dry enough to climb tomorrow (assuming the snow I am watching in NYC right now does not move north)?

Anyone interesting in chasing some sun?

Any update on snow? Not sure weather Monday will be a hiking day or a climbing day in new paltz.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
