Where to store personal tether?

I use one all the time and am just a tad past the noob stage. Most people don't seem to understand the uses and mistakenly think it is a substitute for anchoring with a rope.

When I wrap it around waist and clip a back gear loop it always seems to get stuck on wires or cam lobes. When I attach it to 1st gear loop it hangs too low and catches leg. And I've put it on and off belay loop at every station, got to be a better way than that. And, if you have 2 tethers, double the fun! I saw somewhere about a tether thong...sounds fun. I searched through threads and couldn't find anything besides the 87 posts on why yer gonna die with a PAS.

To clarify, you're using a sling, not a PAS, right?

What about taking it off your harness altogether?

If I need an additional tie-in beyond the rope -- for positioning, redundancy, or whatever -- I take a normal sling and clip it to my belay loop and the anchor. If I need a second one, like for redundancy if I have to untie from the rope, I clip it with biners opposed.

When doing multiple raps, I leave two slings clipped to the belay loop and store them while rapping with the other end around my waist and clipped to a gear loop for quick access at the next anchor.

Girthed it to you loop and than shorten it with a biner and clip under your gear to the back side gear loop (not the back haul loop). Never had issues with cams or any other gear getting caught on it as long as you keep it short so it is against the harness and under the gear.

I prefer to stuff mine down the front of my pants, locker and all. This way nobody sees my PAS thong, and I look, uh, better in all of my pictures...for the ladies.

I actually just use a 48" runner, so I just cannibalize a draw when I need it.

Have you tried not using a PoS and just use the rope? A sling for rappelling. Noob

Works great until you dont have enough rope to clove hitch with.. This point has already been made in this post. Maybe read before you post a jerk comment.

I like to clip 2 HMS biners on one end, then an oval on the other, pass the oval through the other biners, then through my legs, over the shoulder and back on to the shelf in the retail store.

This is what I do and is was in the instruction booklet when I bought my first one. :-)

That is totally acceptable as long as you make sure that all the "beeners" are steel auto-lockers. Oh yeah, which shoulder do you prefer to pass it over?

climbing friend,

do not be passing the pas through your legsies as the thong!!!!

besides looking as the fool and sexual maniac pervert, you just imagine what would be happening if you fall and PAS loop catches on something and then it rams your crotch hard, causing the pain and permanent disfigurement!!!

Aleks, is it better or worse to pass your naughty package through one of the PAS loops when in thong configuration? I can see pros and cons to either

So that's what happened? How high pitched is your broken English? And here I thought it was the steroids..

I see where are going with this J but the Alpine Cock Ring concept has already been used for another anchoring contraption altogether.

Has this ever actually happened?

AHEM. Please refer to my long ago thread, opening post, "How do YOU ensure your climber is competant!" for the origin of the belay thong. Give the old lady credit.

I'm not falling for this clear lure into a fight for hipster street cred, but I've known about the PAS thong since when it was hemp-rope granny-panties.

Emphasis on the hemp, no doubt?

I use an adjustable purcel prussic. I find that by keeping it shortened I clip it to my rear gear loop. This keeps it out of the way and from snagging pro on my harness.

What are the Pros and cons of the PAS vs Purcel? Where do you store your PAS while not climbing? Is it safe in the car, I keep mine in a Ziploc to get all the air out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
