Description Suggest change

If the trail has been broken out this is a pleasant way to spend a few hours on a nice NEI 3- to 3+, about 100 ft piece of ice. Usually sunny in the afternoons.

You can easily "scope" out the condition of this piece of ice from the road (Rt 302) at a point about 3/4 mile west of the Davis Path parking lot. Pull off at a point across from the 3rd house on the right-hand side (East) side of the road between Davis Path and the Private Campground (Which used to be a Texaco Gas Station, hence the name.)

There's a few different lines, especially in "thick ice" years, but I don't know if they have ever been given names.

Getting There Suggest change

Park at the huge, and usually plowed, Davis Path parking lot; cross the river on the Path's footbridge and then look for a diversion path to the left that goes up stream and then cuts back right, and up, into the woods. This is basically the same access as used for the Texaco Amphitheater Area, then you continue more left and a bit up slabbing across the steep hillside to the flow.
