Description
The Lower Wall is predominantly steep climbing with an abundance of routes requiring a little to a lot of gear. Many of the routes have lower angle sections but they all tilt back at some point in the climb. In the early 90's the Orthel brothers and Glenn Barnes established the first two routes here with Snail Trail Barbie and Whisk Briskly Til Stiff. This was followed by Nathan Brown establishing Well Done and Mystery Meat, while I put up Supercharger. Over the years, the Lower Wall developed into a complete area with a good assortment of routes. But the already long hike into Cooks makes it difficult to walk past perfectly good climbing in order to venture even further downhill to the Lower Wall before breaking out the rope. The West Walls offer a more casual group setting and typically tamer climbing, therefore popularity for the Lower Wall has been minimal.
Getting There
Use the same approach as if you're going to the West Walls. Fifty feet before the Breakfast Wall, look for a wide but not too beaten down trail, heading downhill to the left. Part way down you will pass a large boulder on your right; continue left past this boulder and then straight downhill to the base. Over Easy will be visible to your right (west) as you are walking downhill to the base and Little Ass Kicker will be slightly through the woods to your left. Supercharger, Sunshine and Pimping are all to the left (east) past Little Ass Kicker and in that order.
