The NEW new MP Logo - give feedback!

I'm with you Mark. I like A best from the options, but I think the original logo is best. Was that the original Climbingboulder.com logo, where this all came from? In the name of tradition, it would be great to stick with the original. I'm sensing a metaphorical "cyber bolt war" of sorts over the controversy of changing the original logo. A lot of us climbers like things the way they were! Tradition!:)

(But thanks for letting us vote, regardless of the outcome! Very considerate!)

I prefer A but any one is fine.

None of the above. A logo is a mark that represents an idea, company or brand. The new as with the current "coors light" mark utilize cheap trends in design - might as well put in outlines with a 1px circle.

Try to describe what makes mp special and go from there. I'd be glad to help with the rebrand - pro bono, as the options are more like variations on the same mark. Maybe a fresh perspective could help.

Best of luck and don't settle for mediocrity - the mp community deserves better.

Original logo FTW.

A takes second place.

I prefer A. I love the simplicity. I think what gets lost in the newer logos, is the detail of the climber when scaled small. Maybe shoot for something a little more broad? ie: A....

In order or preference,

1. A
2. A
3. A.

If there has to be something in there, it should be gear or a knot, not a person.

C, she's cruising, B she's getting pumped. A is for alpinists, which I am not.

Look, they HAVE to retain the little image of the person doing each activity for the sites. It's TOO USEFUL to throw out and helps manage everything. The whole mountain range part was lifted from Summit entertainment's logo years ago by reversing the order of the peaks to squeak by. I laughed as did the designer when he mentioned how it was created. In any case, the mountain rage persists as a design element and that's good. So you like the mountains without the person. That's cool. That can be your arm patch tattoo.

But you need the climbing person. In this one design element the site owners are just going to have to be benevolent dictators. Design by committee is death. You designers know this.

My suggestion is that the logo should be only the hexagon without the square. With both shapes: 1) there is competing geometries that simply doesn't work, and 2) the graphics and the person are too small. Simplicity!

As presented at the front of this thread, the logo is shown as only a hexagon which is good. However, at the bottom of the page, all the "Project" logos are shown within a square. Furthermore they appear in my "favorites" and "bookmarks" as a hexagon within a square.

A and C

You're right, design by committee is death. I was under the assumption that they will make the executive decision, and not tally our votes which is why I'm also glad they didn't do a survey. It's nice as a community member to see other peoples opinions and see the ideas that are proposed. However, at the end of the day it will be Nick and his crew making the decision. If they feel the person in some form is required then they will pick B or C. My qualitative review of the posts leads me to believe our collective favorite is A so we will see. Either way, it's cool that they listened to our complaints and then included us in the process.

For me, it's 'Mountain' Project. If it were 'Climber' Project a human included would make sense. Even then, there are so many sub-tribes to climbing; alpine, trad, sport, bouldering, etc., that any one of these sub-activities depicted on a symbol would potentially divide or exclude?

Most of the sub-sports use a common element that could be added to the backdrop of the mountains to help clarify if needed?

If not a carabiner/rope/climbing shoes how about a set of nail clippers, athletic tape....tube of Neosporin.... (Certainly I don't usually use carabiners or a rope when bouldering and climbing shoes might get confused with ballet slippers? But, we all probably use nail clippers, some tape, and antibiotic salve from time to time.....)

Or, maybe just stick with the all inclusive mountains?

Thanks,

RJ

I like C with B as a close second. "Grounding" the climber by integrating with the background is very nice.

A is a solid design, but it doesn't fit with the other logos if there isn't something or someone on it.

That level of consistency already got thrown out the window with the snowflake though.

A! Thank you for taking the time to listen to everybody. That is why I love coming to MP for anything.

C is better than B if we must have a climber in the emblem.

Also, instead of new logos, can we get a route finder in the MP app finally?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
