Howdy folks. I'd like to start by thanking everyone who saw this fundraiser in the accident thread and donated already.

As some of you know, Cameron W a close friend of mine, fell close to 100 ft from the top of Made in the Shade at Canal Zone in Clear Creek Canyon on Friday, November 11th. H made it to St Anthony's in the nick of time (to quote a trauma nurse who was working in the ER that day: "had it taken another half hour for him to get here, he wouldn't have made it"). The skilled hands of the doctors and nurses in the ER quickly stabilized him, and by the end of the night, it was found that he was neither paralysed, nor had he suffered any brain trauma.

That aside, a collapsed lung, internal bleeding, broken femur, foot, pelvis, teeth and ribs along with a number of lacerations were the toll of the fall. Cameron was taken off of his ventilator two nights ago, and he is now breathing on his own (with a little help from an oxygen tube). He will have one more surgery to repair the damaged foot next week then he begins the long path to recovery.

In the interim, Cameron has a continually rising tide of medical expenses, as he was uninsured at the time of the accident. So I have created this fundraiser to assist Cameron and his family with the financial burden that they face.

So, if you can donate, please do, a lot, a little, doesn't matter, anything helps! And if you can't donate, then post the link to Social Media (by my rough calculations, for every social media post, we've gotten four additional donors) and if you really, really want to help, then do both!

I thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity.

I did chip in a modest bit, cause, ya know, this could be any of us. Hope it's gaining some traction.

Best wishes to your friend, and to you, too, Blueprint. You feeling better about this, I hope? "Better" isn't the best word, but you know what I mean.

Almost Thanksgiving, too. Those of us with a lot to be grateful for can probably afford to remember those in a bad spot.

Folks, even if you can't contribute, I bet some friendly comments would be welcomed!

We're going to be celebrating thanksgiving at the hospital with Cameron and his family. Cameron is doing much better, he has been removed off of the ventilator and had his last surgery for a while yesterday.

I'm feeling much better, after discussing the accident with him, his belayer and a climber on the scene, I have a good idea of exactly what happened and once Cameron is feeling a little better, we're going to do a write up of it in hopes that we can help others learn from his mistake. It's essentially the same old yarn of miscommunication between climber and belayer, but there are enough variables to make the story worth telling

Hey Dank, maybe repeat the link to the fundraiser so it isn't buried in a sea of text?

Title isn't very inspiring, either. Fundraiser could mean you auctioned pies Friday a month ago.

More to the point, maybe? "Badly injured climber needs our encouragement and financial help!" Or some such.

Your friend needs money, sure, but this thing is going to be a mental battle too, for him and those who are close to him, and for a long time.

Just my two cents. Hang in there! This stuff is hard to watch, too.

Best, Helen

Any updates on Cameron? I just donated for him in hopes of a swift recovery. Would like to hear more about what happened if you are ready to share.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
