You'd think Turkey Day at Turkey Rocks would be a thing.

Dogs don't bother me so much. Screaming babies, on the other hand... Shelf is awesome. It's just the climbers that suck sometimes ;)

Shelfsgiving SHOULD be a thing, a new thing perhaps. Everyone knows about Creeksgiving in Indian Creek. It's not organized, but that time of year tends to make the Utah desert a great option for the holiday. Now I know this means more crowds, but Shelf is pretty huge and you can always go to Voyager, Tanner Dome, or Phantom Canyon if you want to escape the crowds (as well as some unnamed places). But the camping and sharing of food Thankgiving style could take place at both group sites at Shelf. So why don't you all suck it up, deal with the extra crowds by getting drunk together by the fire while your dogs play and forget about how many routes you can squeeze into the day?
We used to do this thing called the Shelf Shindig, which was essentially Jeff Bevan cooking breakfast for 30-50 people, and it had a cool vibe. You guys can do the same thing. Just bring a dish to share at either group site and then walk around each camp announcing the gathering. It might be too cold to hang out with that many people huddled around one fire, but you could just drop by for a visit. Or, have smaller gatherings at your own site, but invite people next to you to come over.
