Hi.
Does anyone have any recommendations on crags in the ADK's that you can climb late in the season?
Thanks,
Ali.

The ADKs are big, care to narrow it down to an area or are you willing to drive 2-3 hours out of the way depending on where you're coming from?

Appendix B of the two volume guidebook has what you want: "Areas to climb when it's cold".

This is also a good time to visit areas that require a substantial bushwhack, as navigating the woods is SO much easier without leaves on the trees.

Thanks for the info. Ill be coming from western mass so southern adirondacks was mostly what I was thinking, but willing to travel further for awesomness. How about spiders web? Does it get late season sun? It's southerly facing no?

Web is south facing , as are the beer walls, but high elevation

Spider's Web faces SW and goes into the sun around 11am this time of year.

+1, although there are spots at Crane Mt, Shelving Rock, and maybe Starbuck that would be warm enough on a 45F+ sunny day. Once you hit mid/late October most of the leaves are down in the ADKs so anyplace southern facing will work with sunshine. That probably should have been my response in the first place. :p

Shelving Rock gets great sun and has a mix of bolted and trad climbs. Good for the 5.11 and under climber although there is a smattering of harder climbs.

It's low elevation, short approach, and faces south/southwest.

Also one of the closest ADK crags to Western Mass...

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
