Training Board in Hotel Room?

I searched threads back over a year and couldn't find anything specifically discussing this...

Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to effectively mount a training board in a hotel room. I am going to be on work-related travel for about 3 weeks later this fall and even though I unfortunately won't have time to visit a gym or crag in the area, I'd like to keep training. I don't have a board now, so I was thinking about buying/making whatever would be easiest to set up in a hotel room (i.e. non-permanently without marking up the walls/doors/etc.), but I'm having a hard time picturing how to do that where it will be stable enough to actually get EFFECTIVE training. Maybe just some Rock Rings? Any ideas? Experience with this sort of thing?

no personal experience but found this on Google: blog.hillmap.com/2010/10/mo…

Looks like they used this ( amazon.com/gp/product/B0027… ) as a starting point, then attached their board to it.

Maybe a pull up bar that attaches to the top of a door frame and then you could rig a way to mount a finger board to that. I think with a little creativity you could make that work in one fashion or another.

^^^ beat me to it.

Beau, Just a heads up if you are really tall or depending on the size of the doorway the couple extra inches you lose from not attaching the hangboard directly to the pull up machine makes it difficult to actually hang.

I used this instead: rockclimbing.com/cgi-bin/fo…

It took a bit of work but I was able to attach the hangboard directly to the wooden mount. This gives me just enough room to hang w/ all holds with bent knees (im 5' 6''). My friends who are taller find certain holds awkward and it makes it a pain in the butt. I ended up not having to drill through the metal of the pull up bar. With the right diameter tube I was able to essentially hammer in the tube until it was stuck. Let me know if you got any q's. I added in a pulley system too to take off weight with just 2 hooks.

It's 65 inches from the middle of the hangboard to the ground. I stayed in a hotel a month or so ago and the doorframe was similar to the one in my house. You can see that we actually have the wood that's attached to the pull up bar a bit low - the rockclimbing.com article has it a bit higher.

A semi-portable solution is mentioned here:
