Pros: Close to things you want to do, lots of like minded people. Cons: Expensive, some areas are crowded.

Dude forget Boulder. You're better off in Denver. Everything a 23 year old single guy needs. Boulder is 20-30 minutes depend on traffic.

Best of luck.

If you work weekends and can get into the mountains during the week, the Front Range is a wonderful play ground. If you work 9-5, be prepared for endless traffic and lines to access the beautiful outdoors and "Colorful Colorado." I personally like living in Boulder well enough as I can be starting up a route in Eldo 20 minutes after leaving my house, run to the base of a flatiron, climb it then run home, and head straight from work up Boulder Canyon to get in some quick sport. If you live in Boulder proper the accessibility is really good, hence the reason that so many people live here... If you live in Denver and work 9-5, be prepared to be disappointed.

He's 23. Unless he's independently wealthy, then he won't be buying/renting a placein Boulder without four of his closest friends/housemates.

As someone who lives in Denver and works a 9-5, sure its not ideal but I am not the least bit disappointed. If you want to climb the classics just be sure to be the first one there in the morning. There is plenty of climbing to go around for all of us weekend warriors.

Then again I come from a city where the nearest climbing is a 3 and a half hour drive away so everything about the situation here is an upgrade for me personally. Being able to drive to clear creek after work (only works in the summertime when the days are long) is incredible and I still feel massively grateful every time I get to do it. Love it here.
