The namesake moose shed found oh so near the base of the wall. Jeffe told me it's a good omen to find one from a young bull such as this. Historically the Moose was the king of these lands, but with trophy hunting, deforestation, and global warming deer made their way into the kingdom of Mooselandia and spread parasites for which Moose have no resistance. With wolves eventually being listed as an endangered species, rampant poaching was curtailed and the Wolves moved in in great numbers as well. It seems because of this deer numbers are at a low and maybe just maybe the Moose can lay their rightful claim again. All we can do is hope, the land up here sure can ebb and flow. One thing is for certain a moose gives zero f's about a wolf, I've heard stories of them cracking skulls with their hooves. Best be on the lookout at this wall in October, nobody wants to startle a full grown, rutting bull.
