Clean up base of the Diamond?

I visited the base of the Diamond of Longs last weekend for the first time, and was dismayed to find a surprising amount of trash. It wasn't a junk pile, but we found a bunch of rusty cans, fallen carabiners, and such without even trying. I even stepped in... no, let's forget about that.

Didn't have extra pack space or time that day, but I am wondering about trying to get a small group of people together to go back and sweep the area a bit & pack it out. Is that something that already happens, that I can jump on with, and/or any other people motivated to help clean up? Any groups that do trail work etc, that I could try to plan with?

I'm not really versed in crag care & development or familiar with the local groups, but I know how to pick up trash.

Maybe you could mention it to the Front Range Climbing Stewards...who are organizing this event and/or rally some people to do a clean-up during this week. Be pretty cool to have so many people helping out the park in so many different areas and ways!

Yes, maybe check in with BCC, Roger Briggs or Tony Bubb?

I would certainly be interested in helping with an event like this. Please keep this page updated if you are able to put something together or get in contact with any groups doing something similar.

There was a discussion some weeks ago about the current situation for accessing routes on the Diamond (crowds, rockfall danger, preferred route, etc.). Might be worth checking out with the OP of that thread if what you suggest is something that could be done along with what has been proposed there:

If everyone picks up just one thing, it will soon enough be clear.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
