If anyone finds a #6 camalot (green) on top of Whitney or somewhere along the Mountaineer's route, if you want to return it, please email me at xxvitaliyxx@yahoo.com

Of course, one is free to keep it as booty...

It has likely unclipped from my friend's harness, about a week ago (around July 20th) when we were on the way down from the top, or maybe in camp? We are not sure where, but when we got to Hitchcock lakes a day after climbing on the East Face, we did not have it in possession... :(

Would be psyched to get it back!

Came down it last Sunday and certainly never saw it. What were you doing up there that required a #6, certainly not for the east face?

A friend and I supposedly did a new route, first attempted by Cam Burns and Steve Porcella, on the same day David Wilson and Galen Rowell climbed Left Wing Extremist. Went at V 5.11, mostly independent, parallel and between the LWE and Inyo Face (which another friend and I climbed a month earlier), with sustained difficulties in 5.10. Goes straight up through a very prominent roof with that pitch above having some interesting and runout laybacking/stemming. Up high goes into some sick dihedrals with 5.11 crux. Turned out to be a quality route with good rock. No bolts or aid used with an onsight for both climbers. The #6 was used once for an anchor, so not necessary, maybe. My friend likely threw it away so that we don't have to haul it to Hitchcock. :) Both of us had no idea where the hell did it go..

Approximately where the line went..

The very very very good stuff happened to be on there. Found two long gems there, with incredible crack climbing. One literally was better than most classic crack climbs in the whole range and for a new route, very clean too. Corner cracks from hands to fingers and splitters. Too much cracK! Hope to add them to MP soon, as they sure would put a smile on your face if you climb them! And the scenery there is fantastic too...

Just kidding, we wanted the added security of a #6 for the classic East Face! :)

Sounds awesome. Cant wait to read more about it. I bet you're right...you're partner just didn't feel like carrying it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
