Looking to get new life out of some old slick holds laying around. Any ideas?

Sandblast them.

Tie them behind your car and drive down a gravel road.

Stipple them with a soldering iron. There are tons of videos on youtube on how to do it pistol grips.

Wire brush. I put a few in my blast cabinet and the results were poor. The plastic is soft enough that silica polishes the plastic and aluminum oxide gets embedded.

Meat tenderizing hammer? I was thinking the same thing about a soldering iron before.

Thanks for the advice. When and bought a wood burning kit and after some practice and finding the right tip, I was able to get the texture very close to new.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
