Rumney dirtbaggin'

For goofy reasons I might be spending August in a semi-nomadic/pseudo-dirtbag situation, and I'm thinking about spending a few of the weekends camping at Rumney. I've been up there a few times now, but never stayed longer than the day. Is there any sort of dirtbag community going on where I could conceivably pick up a partner/group for the weekend? I'm thinking a few of the local campgrounds might work, but I figured I'd see if anyone's got experience first.

Yo dude. The dirtbagging scene is tough up here. There's not a whole lot of free camping to be had, you have to find off the road, illegal type stuff. But if you find yourself up here neededing partners for the weekend let me know. I live in the village and work weekends, but usually have the morning free until around 2 when it's hot as balls anyway.

Hey Peter-

I've known people/been known to sleep in the car at Walmart, which isn't too bad.

Edit: After reading up on 'biodegradable' camp soaps, I also advise against their use. These are marketed in a way that is very inconsistent with how they should be used, which is far, far away from water sources of any kind.

Hope you have fun!

Dive off the top of the big boulder a few times and you will be clean. No need for the soap.

No need to pollute our NH rivers any more than the old mills already did!

There's a camp nearby that I've made arrangements with for long term car camping. Try talking to them

Mountain Pines is nice too... beach on the river, hot showers, flushing poopers, $10 a night, some road noise though. But man that hot shower and floating down the baker to the climbers lots sure are sweet!

The farm that's a few miles away up 25 is IMO too far to be practical.

If you insist on soap, use only Dr. Bronner's castile soap in the Baker River, please. Thanks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
