Hi friends! I want to get up on some of this beautiful rocks here in Colorado. I've heard amazing things about Eldo and Boulder Canyon and plan to get a guide book asap, but I need some partners to go along with that.

I enjoy moderate multi pitch routes (anything that will take me to handjam land, really) but I would love to get more practice placing gear. I also dig crag days, and really just about anywhere that's cute with great company.

I have a rope, draws, anchor building skills and tons of stoke.

Any one of you up to climb tomorrow morning, starting early and get in as many moderates in eldo before it gets hot?

The majority of Boulder Canyon is closed.

Why is that majority of boulder canyon closed?

There's a ~525 acre forest fire up in Nederland and the County has closed the canyon to ensure clear passage for emergency vehicles going up and down. Only the crags at the very mouth of BoCan are open to traffic. I was climbing at Avalon on Saturday afternoon when the evacuation order was given. We had no idea as we were up on the rocks, but it was quite an unusual treat to be climbing in complete silence with no road noise whatsoever. Only 2 fire engines drove past in the 3-4 hours we were climbing.

But the fire is bad. A dozen houses destroyed, far more families displaced.

That....would make sense.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
