MicroTrax Keeper Cord
|
Hi, |
|
I toyed with doing this on my mini trax, which has more options for that, and the best I could come up with is some really thin cord and modification. Unless you count using some cord and Gorilla tape or shoe goo as real idea. That just seems messy, though. |

maybe if you had a swager you could drill a really tiny hole somewhere inconsequential (don't ask me where that is) and swage a really thing cable on there. |

But I'm not into drilling into metal...and the micro offers few other options. Keep the ideas coming! J |

Second the Hartmann, but I tie the loop around the biner a little tighter (snug) so it can't fall off the biner without conscious effort. |

And I would suggest putting the cord on the plastic part not the metal part that needs to move around. |

Been using them for years. No problems just clipping them to a biner. Why do you need a keeper cord? |

In the absence of a cord (using your friend's, or too lazy), I rack my micro and Gri-Gri through just one of the holes (i.e. Petzl device is open). That way, I can rig it most of the way onto the rope before unclipping it. |

This AlpineSavvy Article suggests using 1.3mm dyneema string for your microtraxion keeper cord. They have a link to a place to purchase it. Something like 500lb breaking strength. Pairs well with the Petzl Sm’D. Which also has a keeper cord hole in it. |

What he ^ said. Works great. Not all MTs have the hole - only more recent ones. If yours doesn't have a hole there you can always carefully drill one. I bought some 1 5 mm accessory cord and an overhand knot on the end of the cord fits perfect in the little recess. |
