Description Suggest change

A beautiful granite formation located in the western Castle Mountains a short distance from Grasshopper Creek.

(10) established routes ranging from a 5.4 TR to a 5.10b sport route. Some routes need protection to prevent run-out. The formation is located in a grassy meadow filled with wildflowers and provides an amazing view of of the other granite Castle towers to the south.

As you switchback up the mountain you will notice a large amount of granite boulder fields through the trees that could provide some fantastic boulder routes.

Getting There Suggest change

Start from the main Grasshopper Rocks parking area. Travel on past the USFS gate west until you reach an intersection with TR 716. Head south into the trees on TR 716. A short distance later you will pass a private lot to the west. Stay on 716 as you pass an intersection with TR 723. The trail will switch back up the hill to the west until reaching a mountain meadow on top. If you have your head up, you can't miss the formation to the north across the meadow. The hike is approximately 0.9 miles from the parking area and easily accomplished with kids.
