Story Behind Photo in Islands in the Sky

My friend and I were flipping through the guidebook Islands in the Sky for Mount Charleston NV and saw this picture. We were wondering what the story was behind it and why someone would include it in a guidebook? Obviously we get the message but it's pretty off putting to see a picture of someone about to crater when you're looking for a climb or about to tie in. Kind of the wrong headspace, you know?

My guess is a bit of Photoshop. Seems too far-fetched to be real. The photographer would have had to have been Ms. Jill-On-The-Spot with the shutter.

I seem to recall that photo (without the p-shopped untied rope) used in an ad at some point.

Seems like a pretty good reminder to me. I see WAY too many people who are too lackadaisical, as though they could just hit reset if they screw up.

Hmm I think it kinda puts you in the "right" headspace, if you know what I mean...
