Yup..it is. When John Turner led the FA he would have had nothing but wooden wedges (mostly used for aid climbing in those days) to fit the crack(s) in this section; legend has it he just powered through, and this became known as the crux. With today's "plug 'em in and go" mid-sized cams being a perfect fit one has to wonder if the some-what 'wandering', thin, P2 climbing (whose cracks would have taken pins in 1959) isn't the crux. Certainly in terms of route-finding it is!
