Hey guys, any good suggestions for either easy single/multipitch trad (up to ~5.8) or some moderate sport climbing (up to ~5.11) near Lewis and Clark state caverns? I have a free day in the area and I'd like to get some climbs in. Thanks in advance guys!

the closest areas are spire rock near whitehall (also referred to as "pipestone") and revenue flats. both areas are featured granite and excellent, and would be about 30 minutes from the caverns.

If you choose to head to Spire Rock, White Line is a great 2 pitch climb in the grade range you're looking for. The first pitch is just ok but the second more than makes up for it. Also, you could drive a little past Spire Rock to Homestake Pass where you could have even more options.

King and Queen have good route density and great rock. Further up the pass a few miles is also some great climbing! If you have time before you get here, order a used copy of the Bishop butte guide
