As long as your dog doesn't smoke at the crag, it's fine.

You live in my world, not vice versa. If you give fluffy the boot for going after the sandwich you left out then you might be getting a lesson from my boot. :)

If you cant teach Fluffy manners and respect then someone has to. Its not fair to other climbers to have your dog running amuck being pest because you dont bother to train it. Unfortunately we live in a safe space and I cant do anything to you but I can do something to your dog. You think its cute when Fluffers does bad things but I sure as H*** dont. My perfectly adapted human body forces him to submit. My bipedal anatomy allows me to move through the environment more easily and tower over him. My larger brain allows me to trick him. My opposable thumbs are perfect for picking up clubs and rocks with which to smash him in the head.

Dogs on the rope are fine.

It's the kittens that do the real damage.

What's the point of making these rules, but never enforcing them? It's far more profitable than giving parking ticket to some tourists from Colorado.

It is not an issue of damaging the rope...First it is safety and 2nd pure respect and common courtesy.

I have seen 2 dogs die at the crag and one get seriously injured as a result of fucking idiots not tying up their animal or watching them while climbing.

First was fallen on by someone bouldering=died...no sympathy
2nd fell off a cliff while playing with another dog at the crag near a exposed ledge=died... just a little sympathy

the other was sitting on a flaked rope and the leader fell, pulling the belayer up to the first piece and giving a sever rope burn and throwing the dog 10+ feet= no sympathy

plus another getting hit by a car at a roadside crag and dieing on the street in front of the owner and 10 other climbers.

I have dogs and love them, I tie mine up, and have no problem whooping the shit out of your animal in front of you...

As always WHY IS THIS EVEN A DISCUSSION?!

Because of entitled dog owners?

I've been bitten by a small dog (smuggled into JTree). I don't care as much about a small dog sitting on a rock so long he's behaved. The owners saw me approach and only warned me after the fact 'oh yeah he does that'.

I've seen a massive pack of entitled dog owners roam around Calico Basin, getting into fights with each other and being a general nuisance. Their (mostly) female owners were absolutely worthless. Much like most single moms, they typically don't understand the value of discipline.

I was prevented from climbing a route I wanted to do in Owens River Gorge because of a growling pooch at the base of the adjacent climb. Basically, that couple had an entire wall to themselves because they had their shit animal growing and gnashing at anyone who could get within 50ft of them. Really cool, guys!

I have friends with dogs and they're cool. If their dog isn't lying down and behaving him/herself, they are restrained or otherwise made to behave. Some dog owners need a royal beat-down, however.
