Why don't you just trundle the rock?

i tried pulling on it but it required more force. it's also about 10 feet up and i was afraid of taking a fall and/or having it land on me if i applied more force.

Thanks Steven, for the warning.

I wonder though if some people might mistake that "X" for an arrow, like a tic mark, and grab there.

Perhaps it will just require a crowbar to remove.

next time i'm out there i'll plan on taking a crowbar and prying the rock loose. thanks.

DANGER:

near the start of the route there is a large loose rock that makes part of the mini-roof (look for chalk-marked X).

DO NOT USE THIS even though it's tempting for hands and feet. with just a little bit of force the rock flexes and will eventually separate.

it's easy to get past this section without relying on it.
