This looks like a blast for a 5.2.

I wonder about the meaning of the route name "friuty". Is it intended that way? The spelling differs from that on this photo.

haha - thanks for pointing out the typo - I've always been a bit dyslexic. Yeah it's an old school 5.2… it even has an overhang.

I've probably mentioned this to you before Jon, but I'm still searching to establish the perfect 5.4. Then I realize no one (well very few) are climbing these easy bolted 5.2-6's because, well no one wants to be climbing routes that easy, not realizing they'd be 5.7's or above in the gym…

Although to be fair I vaguely remember the days when anything under 5.9 seemed easy. Now a days I can discern big differences in 5.2's, 3's and 4's!

What a coincidence. I'm hoping to someday establish a fun 5.4 at Index. So far, the place has nothing under 5.6. The problem at Index is that any rock that would be suitable is heavily vegetated.

But there will never be the perfect 5.4. You'll find a good one, and even a really great one, but never be completely satisfied. Then some guy will come along and downgrade it to 5.3+.

That bit about downgrading came from this amusing photo creation:
