I'll echo the goal of not getting killed or injured, plus:

-climb 5.12a trad, redpoint 5.12c sport
-care less about numbers and climb lines that inspire me
-take the whipper
-DWS for 1st time
-birthday challenge for 1st time
-be a steward of our crags and mountains
-more summit beers!

I want to accomplish more climbing at my limit, getting out earlier and staying out longer, falling and flailing on rock. Lead every pitch of ice with a HR under 115.

Another rung up the corporate ladder? Travel in a sprinter class van like all the other well-to-do techies. Do more OW pitches.

Good thing none of those require actual training. I'm kind of disillusioned about training for the sake of next level of difficulty.

Dang, does the RNWF go now?

Definitely want to climb my first wall in late fall in Zion or something, but finding someone willing to take me is tough. That or my brother and I will go double gumby on something.

A climbing partner of mine is in regular contact with a friend/guide of his... long story short, the guides are mostly hesitant to go up RNWF at this point in time.

I turn 60 in January, so I've been thinking about this.

So:
"Climb", as best I can, Standard route in car body, first one put up in the Black Cliffs, and try to meet FA to shake his hand, throw him a hug (if amenable), and thank old timers while we are both still here.

"Climb", as best I can, "Geologic time includes now", on the newest climbing in our area (a whole face fell off our local cliff), and maybe get help on it from the FAs. Truly great route name, guys!

"Climb" is in quotes, because, alas, my performance bell curve for climbing ability is not looking great.

Hope to meet some of you, also!

Best, especially to all of you with big birthdays looming, Helen

I wouldn't know since I haven't been back there for awhile now. Does Power Play still form every season?

Yes every year. It was a heck of a year last winter in regard to things shaping up fat. Power Play, Rihanna and Big Brother were in great shape for awhile. It felt like Poko went in and out like every week. Roaring Brook was an unprotectable slush fest for most of the season. The canyon was constantly changing from beat out ladders to fresh and steeper than usual. Hot Shot was unusually terrifying but so was Quinn the Eskimo so maybe it was me.

But I heard nothing at Crane Mountain ever came in :(

Recover from yesterday's shoulder surgery and be climbing 10's by the end of the year.

Joe Crawford · · Truckee, CA · Joined Jan 2014 · Points: 105

1. get back on rock after shoulder surgery
2. Evolution traverse
3. T-bolt to sill c2c
4. master thin hands at the creek
5. climb a wall

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
