Rain forecast for Redrock
|
We are climbing tourists here and climbing. Had planned on staying through the weekend but rain is in the forecast. |
|
The forecast is pretty moist and it looks like it may start as early as today and will be upon us till Tuesday. I'd look for another place to climb. |
|
Pack it in. Its gonna be soaked this weekend. Any rain means no climbing 24/48 hrs after if its hot out the following days. |

JTree is only a 3hr drive south |

If the rain stops but the sandstone is still wet while you're there, you might try the Gun Club, where there are a lot of short bolted routes on limestone. I was in town recently and checked it out in addition to climbing at RR. It's easy to get to, the routes are mostly well bolted, and it's fun even though the rock is really sharp. Not nearly as fun as RR, but it beats the gym, imo. |

Thank you everyone. Looks like we may go visit Cochise near Benson. Got to love granite. |

Hello, |
|
Looks like a hard system to get away from. Paradise Forks is pretty nearby and while it may get wet, it's basalt, not sandstone and it's low-commitment. I suggest buying a gun on the way to shoot stuff when the rain gets boring. You'll be in Arizona, after all. |

Kaylyn Messer wrote:Hello, Joining this thread as my friends and I are flying in tonight. There is small hope for climbing. We went out this morning but ran away when a little drizzle started. But it never rained hard. Being eco-tourists with options we won't mess with trying to figure out how much rain is too much, but so far it hasn't rained hard. Noon, Friday. 450 miles to Cochise's Stronghold, granite. mountainproject.com/v/cochi… |

Mesquite area limestone might be an option...dries fast. |

Thanks everyone! |

Raining in JT although have friends in Vegas bagging it and coming south, climbing is likely out. |

It's looking pretty soggy already. |

Wow, y'all have better weather than up here all year long- except for tomorrow apparently. Devils Tower tomorrow Sunny and 79F and 1000 miles away from LV... |

Made it to Phoenix. Looking at Svens Ledge at McDowell. Probably get chased off by noon. Maybe if we just drive hard we can have a couple of days at Enchanted Rock. |
