Chossy cliffs near Canyon Junction in Zion?
|
So yesterday while driving back into town after a family hike, I noticed some nice-looking cracks along some cliffs between Canyon Junction and the first big switchback where the road begins to really climb to the tunnel. Didn't take pics, sorry. |

Check the cover page of the Grand Staircase ( mountainproject.com/v/grand…), very soft scary adventures out here. |

With all the great rock in Zion why would you want to climb there? |

For the next time your out at the end of the day and by the tunnel check out Ashstar Command tower, or if you want something more classic walk on the outside of the tunnel to jump on Pitches 1,2, or 3 of headache. |

there are a few routes in that cliff band by which i mean all of the springdale band... most of the rock is junk |

Ashtar Command may be technically closed right now, even though people have been on it since early March. Tunnel Wall from the last switchback to the tunnel entrance is the raptor closure area, but the NPS map makes it appear that the upper cliff bands are affected rather than roadside. Others have posted here before that they were told the lower cliffs were open. Headache may be far enough around to be unaffected. |

Ashtar is not closed. between the headache and ashtar is closed. |
